‘Telling it like it is’?

We had some music on while Jake, Ellie & I were playing.

On came “Do you know the Muffin Man?” (the Muffin Man, the Muffin Man…)

Up pipes Jake:

“I know the Muffin Man”

Me “Do you? What’s he like?”

“He’s got muffins”

Oh. Of course: silly me!

Their Nanny & Papa have been visiting &, as ever, they brought food.

Ellie however wasn’t happy with the desert, a delicious apple & blackberry crumble.

“You know I don’t like that so why did you bring it?”, she cried indignantly.

So she had ice-cream, the rest of us had the crumble & everyone was then happy!

  1. Children’s honesty can be very refeshing can’t it? I do often think that I could learn a lot from them! And I think the ice-cream was M&S, although we are very partial to a bit of Ben & Jerry’s here ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. I cringe whenever I hear my kiddo say something so frank too. I don’t know whether to apologize on their behalf or accept that kids don’t exactly have a social filter and instead say what’s exactly on their mind.
